Quotes from the Front Lines

I am at the chiropractor and getting my jaw adjusted and have all 3 cuties with me in the room. 2 are sitting, one is standing next to me, as I am trying to give direction while being adjusted. The 5 yr old child interrupts my speaking...

"Mom... is that a mosquito bite on your face."
Mom, knowing exactly which big zit on her face her child is speaking about and embarrassingly says, "No, that is a pimple."
"You have them all over your face!"
Still embarrassed mother, now more embarrassed says, "Yes, that happens to me sometimes."
"Humph." Child goes back to wanting to go back to creating havoc... Chiropractor, kindly, finds a nice way to soften the blow...

One day, the child will understand, unfortunately, genetically, I know he will...

But thankfully he didn't point out my mustache, crow's feet, boogers in my nose and wax in my ears as well...

Out of the mouths of babes! It is alright... zits, mustaches, boogers... they could not diminish the beauty God has given you! It is your Spirit that adorns you with loveliness, and your character and love that makes your exterior self radiate beauty beyond any physical blemishes! Remember, mom, you are a gift to your kids... and your husband... from God Himself! Your value and worth does not come from a clear complexion... but from the love God has bestowed upon you to give!

I hope your jaw feels better! I used to have a lot of jaw pain, and I know how it spreads to your head, and how that effects how you think, feel, etc. Mine is directly related to how stressed I'm feeling, though. Speaking of chiropractors, someone was telling me that a lot of people have babies adjusted and that it's supposed to make them less cranky and sleep better. I thought that was pretty interesting. Joy's sleeping patterns have been improving, but if they go back downhill, we might have to get her adjusted :) (I heard that they hold the baby upside down to do this...? again, interesting.)

Aw schucks! Thanks Holly! You are a continual source of encouragement to everyone you meet! Actually chiropractic and kids can be a good thing. You have to do your research and find a good one. (I have been told of one great one in Ames but never tried him...) We did take Zeke to one for his first 2 years of life but we never noticed any difference, though pro-ponents say that we just weren't going to the right one, ;)! But I know one mom who had a colicky baby and chiropractic care immediately cured her babe for the better! I am glad you have found relief from your pain Jackie! My jaw pain is related to two separate car accidents and then giving birth and now gets agitated by sleep or eating wrong. It is a chronic thing that I daily have and I will always have for the rest of my life just sometimes if the situations are right, I can knock it out of place pretty bad and it locks up, no fun. They say it is like a sprained ankle when I do have a bad episode like this and so I am hoping in 3 more weeks it'll be back to "normal." :)!
