We interrupt my taxes to bring you this important announcement*...

April 9, 2007 - 9:16 PM

It was your typical Easter morning. Mom, home from church with 2 sick kids, having been up all night with random bouts of messes, finally takes the chance to get a shower. She is quickly escaping to the shower to wash off the yucky feeling that comes along with cleaning up lots of vomit when to her horror...

The visitor

Somehow an African Millipede found its way into our IC shower. After telling herself repeatedly that it was OF COURSE a plastic toy, she grabbed for her husband's toothbrush...

Toothbrush test?

But then thought wiser of it and grabbed for the soap bottle to budge it, just to be sure...

Soap Test?

Phew! Plastic. That doesn't mean she reaches out to pick it up with any less inhibitions. She manages to put it on the shelf in the bathtub by tossing it with a like, "Ew."

The Bathtub Shelf

It still looks just a bit too real.  She then places it on the side of the bathtub...

Bath Side

Again, to close for comfort.  The mom, now having wasted what time she did have for a shower, resolves to put the bug in the best spot imaginable...

Maybe I am not looking hard enough... where is your RSS feed?

  • leah said on April 11, 2007 - 1:14 PM

ok, that almost made me scared! i made a fool of myself with a similar plastic bug in the dorms when jason and nathan shared a room. wendy and i were very scared and went and found this random guy to come kill the bug and we both screamed when he slapped it with a rolled up newspaper. however, it was plastic and we both felt dumb!

Thanks for your question! Regarding RSS, a modern web browser will/should automatically detect the RSS feed and show a little RSS icon in the address bar. If you still can't find it, I put a humongous RSS icon (that would be my dry sarcasm showing there) in the right hand bar. Let me know if it works.

Yeah, I saw the huge button and laughed. My Firefox does actually have an RSS button. How exciting!

Do you know where that bug came from? Our friends Doug and Alexis (mostly Doug) gave Karl a birthday card and inside were a 10-pack of those bugs. Yes, ten of them have been floating around our house since September. When Karl opened the card, Doug proclaimed, "Karl, those are for you to scare Maren with." Hence, the employment of the bugs began.

I am thankful though that you had the kind heart to remove it from my pillow the first night... I honestly think that would've scared me worse than the shower prank that Josh pulled. :)!
